If you are serious about achieving something or reaching a goal, stop waiting for inspiration or motivation to hit you. Instead, get your priorities straight and make a schedule so you can set aside time to put in the work and effort needed to make these dreams come to fruition.
You HAVE to be consistent, and be prepared to bust your hump. Trust me, it is much easier to SAY than to DO.
I will use weight training as an example.
I will NOT set a PR (Personal Record) every time I go to the gym. In fact, I may not hit a PR for weeks, or even months! There will be many days where my workouts are below average, or just outright suck!
THAT is part of the process. Suiting up and showing up.
The only way to get better in the gym, and in life, is to show up and do your best, especially on the days you do not want to, and keep doing it over and over again, even after a poor training day.
Now, do NOT get me wrong. Having a bad day, whether it be in life OR in the gym, is NEVER the goal, but it IS a reality. Unavoidable.
It is how we respond to those below average days that will ultimately define us and shape our character.
You cannot just chose your best days and put in the effort when you know your performance will be awesome. Below average days are the price you have to pay for excellence.
In fact, the only way to reveal your greatness is to put in your reps, inundate yourself with a VOLUME of work, and keep showing up, over and over again, never backing down or letting your goals go unrealized.
Work hard. Do NOT give up, and realize those days that suck will lead you to the promise land.
So make a schedule that will FORCE you to deliver, and STAY ON TRACK! Think of it as making an appointment with yourself that you CANNOT cancel. If you do, your POSITIVE results will become exponential.
I promise.
Yours in Health,
Tj
